Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective: May 1, 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how subscription cancellation, plan changes, and refunds work for Honyaku, a Slack translation service operated by Akatsuki AI Technologies Inc. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service.
1. Free trial
New workspaces start with a 14-day free trial of the Starter feature set. No credit card is required to begin the trial, and no charge is made when the trial ends — translations simply stop until you subscribe to a paid plan.
2. Cancelling your subscription
You may cancel at any time from the Honyaku dashboard Overview page — open the Subscription card, click Customer Portal, then choose Cancel subscriptionon Stripe’s secure billing portal.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Until that date you keep full access to all paid features. After that date no further charges will be made and the Service will stop translating in your workspace.
3. Refund policy
Honyaku is a digital subscription service that delivers value continuously throughout the billing period. Once a payment has been processed, fees are non-refundable, and we do not issue refunds or pro-rated credits for:
- Partial billing periods or unused time after cancellation;
- Plan downgrades made within an active billing period;
- Periods during which the workspace was inactive, paused by you, or had usage below the included cap.
4. Exceptions — when refunds may be issued
We will review and, where appropriate, refund the following:
- Duplicate charges — if you were charged more than once for the same billing period.
- Billing errors — if you were charged the wrong amount, charged after a confirmed cancellation, or charged for a plan you did not select.
- Service unavailability we are responsible for — if the Service was substantially unavailable for a sustained period due to a fault on our side (excluding scheduled maintenance, third-party outages, or events beyond our reasonable control).
- Mandatory legal rights — where applicable consumer-protection law requires a refund (for example, certain rights granted to consumers in the EEA or UK), we will honour those rights.
To request a refund under one of the exceptions above, email support@honyaku.app within 30 days of the charge, including the workspace name, the date of the charge, and a brief description of the issue. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
5. Plan changes (upgrades and downgrades)
You can change plans through the Customer Portal at any time. The following rules apply:
- Upgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. There are no immediate or pro-rated charges.
- Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep your current plan’s features until that date, and the new plan’s pricing applies from the next billing cycle.
- Proration is not applied. We do not charge or credit pro-rated amounts when you change plans.
6. Failed payments and grace period
If a renewal payment fails, we retry collection over a 3-day grace period during which the Service continues to operate. We will email the workspace billing contact at the start of the grace period. If payment is not collected by the end of the grace period, the workspace is suspended until payment is brought current. Suspension does not earn a refund or credit for the affected period.
7. Cancellation by Akatsuki
We may cancel a subscription with notice for material breach or non-payment as set out in the Terms of Service. Where we cancel for our own convenience without cause (which is unusual), we will refund any fees pre-paid for the unused remainder of the billing period.
8. Cancellation feedback
We may invite you to share the reason for cancellation when you cancel. Doing so is entirely optional and has no effect on whether the cancellation takes effect.
9. Refund method
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method via Stripe. Settlement timing depends on your card issuer; in most cases the credit appears within 5–10 business days.
